ARE YOU CALLED TO SERVE ON THE NAFAUM BOARD?

By Rev. Adiel DePano

If you are or are interested in serving, you are invited to submit your name for consideration as a member of the Board of Directors. You are encouraged to enter into a deep and prayerful discernment before contacting the Nominations Committee chaired by Rev. Adiel DePano. You should only take part in the process after a careful consideration of where God is leading you and be affirmed by God that this is both realistic and a true calling. To be considered, please respond in writing to the following questions:

1. Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been a United Methodist Christian? What is your day job? What are your connections or places of service in NAFAUM?

2. What do you do to stay spiritually fit? How have you grown spiritually over this past year?

3. Do you feel called to be part of the NAFAUM Board? If so, why?

4. What are your strengths? What gifts, talents, or abilities do you bring to the table that can enhance the mission of NAFAUM, i.e. to carry out the various ministries of the United Methodist Church among Filipino-Americans in cooperation with other boards and agencies and local churches of the denomination?

Send your written responses to adieldp@gmail.com no later than April 30, 2025. The process involves the following next steps: 1. The Nominations Committee vets the candidates. 2. Candidates deemed fit for election by the Nominations Committee are officially recruited. 3. Nominations Committee presents its report to the NAFAUM Convocation plenary. Upon adoption of the report, the candidates for the incoming class are duly elected.

The Nominations Committee is made up of Rev. Armando Arellano, Rev. Adiel DePano, NAFAUM President Karen Prudente (ex oficio), and Rev. Dr. Ben Vinluan.

NAFAUM

WHO
WE ARE

Get to Know NAFAUM

NAFAUM started as and is a platform where Filipino United Methodists could work together collectively to enhance the Christian life of all, in areas of the Christian faith that affect our interaction with the new land and people which we have now come to call our own. It also acts as an advocate for values peculiar to the Filipino not just to defend those when necessary, but use them as a means of grace and contribution to our common witness as part and parcel of the connection, even as not a formal and organic part of the official structure of The United Methodist Church. By our own volition, however, we observe and follow the ways and discipline and governance of The United Methodist Church. NAFAUM does everything the Methodist way, except that we are not within the formal structure of the church. Moreover, we could present proposals for funding by the general church to any of the general boards. And we could create or design programs that enhance our Christian life and witness as Filipinos in America, and all over the connection.
